We are looking for a unique, enthusiastic and motivated individual who would like to join our focused and safety-driven Aquatics team. You will be passionate about water safety, great customer service and thrive on being a leader and role model for our current and future lifeguards.
In this role you will be assisting the Aquatic Coordinator in the overseeing of the Waitaki Aquatic Centre and the Lifeguard Team. The main responsibilities include running a team of lifeguards, ensuring water quality standards are met and providing quality supervision to all pool users at the Waitaki Aquatic Centre. Additionally you will assist in ensuring the building is maintained to the highest standard and making sure our customers are having a great time.
In joining our team you will be bringing a proven record of running teams, a mature attitude, strong communication skills, and a friendly and outgoing personality with a high level of presentation and cleanliness. Previous lifeguarding and water testing experience is an advantage, along with pool operations, including plant and equipment maintenance, and further training will be provided to the successful applicant in these areas. As part of your Lifeguard award you will be required to demonstrate a reasonable level of fitness and swimming ability. We offer competitive rates of pay, ongoing training and development and full use of the facilities.
The position is full time and we are open 7 days a week. The swim school and aquatics programmes operate both weekdays and weekends, so you must be flexible and rostered weekend work will be part of the role.
This is an exciting opportunity to grow your career in the sport and recreation industry in a unique and fun-filled location. Waitaki is one of New Zealand's most vibrant on-the-grow districts and home to great lakes, ski fields, cycle trails, epic tramping, fishing and hunting, surf beaches and so much more. Award winning restaurants, wineries, craft breweries, Steampunk and Oamaru's fascinating Victorian Precinct will be at your doorstep, along with Aotearoa's longest national heartland cycleway - The Alps 2 Ocean, and the fabulous Waitaki Whitestone Geopark.
